RaboDirectPRO12 : Stats : Competition Structure

The 11th season of the tournament sees the RaboDirect PRO12 take place across four nations, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales in a 12-team competition.

The RaboDirect PRO12 will consist of a 22 weekend league stage, when all twelve teams will play each other on a home & away basis, with the top four teams at the end of the season qualifying for the Play-Off Semi-finals and Final. The tournament continues through the Rugby World Cup and the 2012 RBS 6 Nations tournaments.

The champions of the 2011/12 RaboDirect PRO12 will be the winners of the Final. The tournament will run from the first weekend of September 2011 with the Final held on the last weekend of May 2012.

Ospreys were seeking revenge for elimination at this stage at the hands of Munster this time last year. Only this time they were at home for a game which Ospreys fans will be talking about for years.

Munster got some revenge for their European exit at the hands of Ulster, but it comes at a price, with Paul O'Connell out for the rest of the season. Munster were already through, but a win would guarantee a tie v Ospreys, while Ulster needed a 5 point win on top of Scarlet and Warrior losses.

The Scarlets needed a win, an Ulster loss and a Warriors loss... they got 2 out of 3, but that wasn't good enough to get through to the final four. That said, this was a fantastically entertaining fixture!
