Turner is one of four Edinburgh players selected for Wednesday's Baa-Baas remembrance match against the Combined services alongside Lewis Niven, Cammy Ferguson and Colin Goudie.
And after struggling with a hip injury last season, Turner admits lining up alongside established players in the game was something he couldn't turn down.
"Our forwards coach Stevie Scott asked me a few weeks ago how I would feel about playing for the Barbarians, and I jumped at the chance," said Turner.
"Since then I've had a text from JJ [John Jeffrey] saying how great an experience it will be and all the confirmation
"I just hope I play well and get noticed. A hip injury set me back quite a bit last year, but since coming back I've caught up on my fitness and am stronger than ever before.
"I've played 11 or 12 games already, compared to seven all last season, so I'm feeling good and my confidence is picking up from playing games.
"It's definitely a bonus to be called up and a very good surprise. Hopefully I'll be able to push on from here and get some game time for Edinburgh Rugby.
"I'm from Edinburgh and that's who I want to play for."
